The meadows of Taos are filled with golden flowers accented with clusters of purple asters. It is as if a blanket of joy has descended upon the landscape of Taos. As I drove through the countryside yesterday I knew Autumn was arriving quietly through the back door.
So, did you know it was National Dog Day this week? Funny how those important dates slip by. Those who know me know I am a big dog lover.
Here are my two dogs…Emma and Wilson. They are my keepers of happiness.
Dogs live in the moment. They don’t hold grudges, are always up for play and they know when we need comfort. I don’t believe they gossip nor do I think they spend time wondering if they are as good as the next dog.
As Eckhart Tolle says:
“What is it that so many people find enchanting in animals? Their essence – their Being – is not covered up by the mind, as it is in most humans. And whenever you feel that essence in another, you also feel it in yourself.”
This is so true.
As artists we need to take a break and observe our majestic partners and decide to be more like them.
