I hear it all the time… I am not where I want to be in my art. I don’t know how to get there and I don’t know where to turn.
Here is the skinny… You must take personal responsibility for your life. Oh yes, you say… I have heard that, but really? Not everything that has happened to me is my fault nor did I intend it to happen.
Let’s face it… you painted the best painting you have ever done and it was turned down at the last juried show.
Really? Did you ask why? Did you look at those selected? Did you ask where you went wrong? Did you say to yourself… I will do better next time!
I know how you feel as this happened to me for over two years… constant rejection letters from the juried shows I entered. I questioned myself as to “why” I was painting. It seemed nothing I did was “good enough”.
So, where do you turn when this happens? You turn inside and ask questions. You take responsibility for your art, your life, your decisions and your desires.
It means giving up your excuses, your victim stories and the many reasons “why” you haven’t succeeded.
Can’t afford help? Fine… then change the way you think.
I am being hard on you today because I see too many artists give up because they don’t ask questions or take responsibility for their thoughts.
The key is if you don’t like your outcomes then change your responses.
You only have control over three things in your life…
Your thoughts
Images you visualize
The actions you take
Just remember… If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got.
Does this mean the road will be easy with your new thought pattern… hell no… it just means you have to believe and take a risk.
Yes, a risk in yourself… Congratulations.
Let me know if you are ready to take a risk in yourself.
