what do you do with all those paintings that just didn’t work out? You know the ones—unfinished pieces, experiments gone wrong, or older paintings that no longer reflect where you are as an artist. Instead of letting them collect dust in the studio, I want to show you one of my favorite ways to give them a new life.
In this video, I share a simple technique for finding hidden gems inside failed paintings. By using mats to isolate interesting sections, I can transform one unwanted painting into several beautiful small works of art. I also show how I use these pieces to create greeting cards, collage elements, and ready-to-display artwork.
If you’ve ever struggled with throwing away expensive canvases or felt guilty about unfinished work, this approach might completely change how you see those old paintings.
I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever repurposed a painting that didn’t work out? Leave a comment below and share your experience.
