I’ve been painting for a long time, I have my style, my voice, all of it. And then, about a year ago, something shifted. I knew I wanted looser brushstrokes, more energy, more “say something” but every time I tried, I’d end up drifting right back to my old habits without even realizing it.
This video is the whole messy, honest journey: the painting that had a beautiful glow but nowhere left to go, the “loosey goosey” attempt that turned into an actual donkey, going back through my old work to figure out what I’d lost along the way, and finally landing on the three words that changed everything for me: Powerful, Loose, Relatable.
If you’ve ever been afraid to touch a painting because you might “ruin” it, I have news for you. You cannot ruin what does not work.
